Our Lady of Graceland
Type: Self-initiated illustration
Role: Digital illustration, character illustration, parody / visual concept
Format: Digital illustration
Our Lady of Graceland is a self-initiated lowbrow parody of religious iconography, reworking the sculpture of Michelangelo’s Pietà through the strange devotional mythology surrounding Elvis fandom.
The illustration replaces the sacred figures with Elvis and Priscilla, placing them in front of the gates of Graceland.
It plays with the way pop culture, celebrity death, nostalgia, and fan worship can look close to religion.
